Epidavrou Limiras Ancient Theatre

Epidaurus Limera was an ancient city of eastern Laconia, on the bay of Kremmydi, a little north of Monemvasia. According to Pausanias, it was founded by colonists from Epidaurus in the Argolid, who stopped there on their way to Kos after receiving an omen. From the 7th century BCE it belonged to the Spartan state. The archaeological site preserves the remains of the Acropolis of Vassa, Roman-era walls, and a small theatre dedicated to Dionysus, built in the 4th century BCE.
