Patras is the largest city in the Peloponnese and the third largest city in Greece, after Athens and Thessaloniki, with a population of 170,934 inhabitants, while the population of the Achaia regional unit is 302,272, according to the 2021 census by ELSTAT. Patras is the capital of Achaia, in the region of Western Greece, as well as the seat of the Municipality of Patras, and has also been designated as the headquarters of the Decentralized Administration of the Peloponnese, Western Greece and the Ionian Islands.
