Passenger steamship on the Piraeus-Thessaloniki route. Struck a reef near the islet of Gaidaros and sank on 19 January 1947 in the South Euboean Gulf, about one mile from the islet of Kavallianí. The wreck claimed roughly 383-400 lives — the deadliest maritime disaster in Greek history, known as the "Greek Titanic." The wreck was located in 1999 by a diving team (Antonis Grafas, Aristotelis Zervoudis, Kostas Thoktaridis, Vasilis Lambrou) at a depth of about 35m.
