Tzanetaki (Gytheio) Tower

The Tzanetakis Tower in Gytheio was built in 1829 and belonged to Tzanetakis Grigorakis, bey of Mani and a general of the 1821 Revolution. A characteristic example of Maniot tower architecture, it now houses the Historical and Ethnological Museum of Mani, with a permanent exhibition on the foreign travellers who visited Mani between the 15th and 19th centuries — manuscripts, engravings, rare maps and relics spanning five centuries.
