A Thessaloniki Metro station (operating since November 2024) that displays in situ the remains of the Byzantine Decumanus Maximus — the city's main street, lined with marble columns, alongside a Byzantine marketplace. Construction lowered the tunnels by dozens of metres specifically to keep the archaeological site intact, making the station one of the first underground metro-museums in the world.
